This booklet discusses the mass production and cloning of bananas as a global issue. Text from The United Fruit Company in 1921 discussing the positive things mass producing bananas has done for developing countries is used in the first half. A recent article from the New York Times contrasts this in the second half by explaining the long-term negative effects caused by the banana industry. The pages of the this text are gradually cut to show the idea of defect caused by mass production. Imagery from United Fruit Company’s early banana production is used repeatedly but is also disrupted. The booklet is printed on the Risograph printer because its use as a machine for mass production.
